Haptic and Virtual Reality Simulator for Screw Insertion during Osteofixation

Our group won 2nd place for best demo in my Haptics for Human Robot Interaction class. Our group wanted to design an immersive way for surgeons to train inserting bone screws by feel without expensive, one-time use foam bones. The design and functionality was inspired by my work on demonstration models while working in orthopedic medical devices and our team expanded on the capabilities done by Okamura et al. in Design of a Haptic Simulator for Osteosynthesis Screw Insertion.
